(Think this only applies to 4.0 and up)Ī:Chances are you were on a black and white layer when you tried to select a color and thus the program automatically tried to convert the color you wanted to a a B&W tone. Q:My colors are showing up as monotone gradients.
Coupled with vector snapping tools, artists are now able to achieve exactly the lines they want. Q:Can I draw something in Manga Studio then color it in Photoshop?Ī:Yes! When saving, just go to File>Export and where it says File Type select 'Photoshop' format. Manga Studio offers the ability to view the centre line of vectors and therefore makes spotting trouble areas in need of smoothing a breeze.
3.0 was not designed for coloring, thus you need to use this method and (unfortunately) manually select all your colors. Q:Where is the eyedropper tool? How do I select colors?Ī: In 3.0 there is no eyedropper tool. (It's not covered in this tutorial sorry.) (I never use anti-alias on my lines.)Ī:In 3.0 you need to use tones to make gradients. Q:If I don't use anti-alias my lines look all choppy!Ī:They may look choppy when zoomed in close up, but I promise you, if you worked larger than your intended piece, once you resize it for the web & what not, it will look smooth and crisp. Q:I can't fill a shadow/space with color without flooding the whole page.Ī: On the paint bucket's tool properties window, make sure the "Browse Several:All Layers" box is checked. The big difference being that Manga Studio EX allows for the use of Vector layers, which gives you more options when it comes to editing your lines without having to completely redraw them. Q:What is the difference between Manga Studio Debut and Manga Studio EX?Ī: They're the same program, however Debut has fewer tools than EX. Q:Can I use this tutorial with Manga Studio Debut?Ī:Yes! The only difference between the two (as far as this tutorial goes) is that Manga Studio Debut doesn't offer you the use of Vector layers. Unlike 3.0, Manga studio 4.0 and 5.0 are designed for using color, thus the methods in this tutorial would not be necessary. It should be noted that this tutorial was created and intended for use with the first version of Manga studio EX or Debut (now referred to as 3.0).
